The Oxford Hills School District is seeking excellent candidates for the position of Attendance Support Specialist at the Harrison Elementary School in Harrison, ME.  

 

Hours: 6–9 hours per week
Reports To: School Principal or Designee

Position Summary:
The Attendance Support Specialist works to improve student attendance through proactive outreach, data monitoring, and collaboration with families, staff, and community partners. This role focuses on identifying attendance challenges, building positive relationships with families, and implementing strategies to promote consistent school attendance.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct outreach to families through phone calls, letters, and other communication methods to address attendance concerns.

  • Collect, track, and analyze attendance data to identify trends, patterns, and students in need of support.

  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and administrators to develop interventions that encourage regular attendance.

  • Assist in creating and distributing attendance-related resources for families.

  • Research and share professional development opportunities, strategies, and best practices to improve student attendance.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of all outreach and intervention efforts.

  • Promote a positive, supportive approach to attendance improvement that fosters student engagement and family partnership.

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and build trust with families and staff.

  • Experience with data collection, organization, and basic analysis.

  • Knowledge of attendance policies, school procedures, and strategies for family engagement (preferred).

  • Proficiency with basic computer programs and school communication tools.

Work Schedule & Compensation:

  • 6–9 hours per week, schedule to be determined based on school needs.

  • Compensation aligned with school or district hourly rate for secretary staff.
