TITLE: Curriculum Director

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Master’s Degree

  1. Maine certification (or evidence of eligibility) as a Curriculum Coordinator/Supervisor
  2. Teaching, supervising and/or administrative experience

 

REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools

 

SUPERVISES: Staff members designated by the Superintendent

 

JOB GOAL: To provide leadership in the development, implementation, and coordination of the PreK-12 district curriculum, the district assessment system, and instructional practices.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Ensures the implementation of the District’s mission and goals.
  2. Promotes a positive environment and interacts in a positive manner with colleagues, parents, students, and visitors.
  3. Chairs the Curriculum Coordinating Council and oversees the work of the Subject Area Committees. 
  4. Serves as liaison to the school board curriculum committee.
  5. Guides development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum, assessment and instructional practices of the district.  
  6. Assists in the development and coordination of the sections of the budget that pertain to curriculum, assessment, and instruction.
  7. Keeps abreast of developments in curriculum, assessment, and instruction.  Provides leadership in determining their appropriateness for inclusion in the district educational program.
  8. Coordinates development, implementation, and evaluation of in-service staff development. 
  9. Communicates the approved curriculum to the professional staff.
  10. Evaluates and reviews the performance of district staff as directed by the Superintendent. 
  11. Serves as the District Assessment Coordinator for the Maine Educational Assessment.
  12. Assumes responsibility for reviewing and evaluating results of district-wide testing programs and for other evaluative measures used by the schools.
  13. Maintains liaison and active participation with educational leaders in curriculum and instruction at state, regional and national levels.
  14. Recognizes urgency; can distinguish between the urgent and important vs. merely urgent, and acts accordingly.
  15. Performs such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.

OXFORD HILLS REGION

The Oxford Hills School District (MSAD 17) comprises the towns of Norway, South Paris, West Paris, Oxford, Waterford, Harrison, Hebron and Otisfield. MSAD 17 shares vocational resources and accepts students in its Oxford Hills Technical School programs from the RSU10 School District towns of Buckfield, Hartford and Sumner. Oxford Hills/Nezinscot Adult Education is located within the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.

 

The Oxford Hills offer a variety of outdoor resources for anyone wishing to enjoy the region, whatever the season. The area boasts more than ten lakes and ponds for outdoor recreation, a land trust with hundreds of acres for skiing, snowshoeing, and is in close proximity to several downhill skiing areas! Community support for Oxford Hills athletics and extracurricular activities is very strong and represents the robust regional commitment to the students and schools within the district.
